Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his frustration after Portugal suffered a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Slovenia in a friendly match on Tuesday. Despite not featuring in the previous game against Sweden, which saw Portugal secure their 11th consecutive victory under coach Roberto Martinez, Ronaldo started the match in Ljubljana.

 

However, goals from Adam Cerin and Timi Elsnik in the second half sealed an unexpected win for Slovenia, leaving Ronaldo visibly displeased. In a lackluster performance, Portugal’s star player seemed more preoccupied with arguing with referees and complaining about perceived fouls than making a significant impact on the game.

Portugal will now look to regroup and prepare for their upcoming June friendlies against Finland, Croatia, and Ireland as they aim to start the European Championships on a positive note.

 

In the Euro 2024 tournament, Portugal has been drawn in a group alongside Georgia, Turkey, and Czechia. Meanwhile, Slovenia, who recently drew 2-2 with Malta, will face Bulgaria and Armenia before competing against Serbia and Denmark in Germany. Their group stage match against England is scheduled to take place in Cologne on June 25.
