James stumbled about the Tennessee arena in his street clothes, awkwardly bolstered by a brace. This was a bad sign for the Lakers, who need to win most of their next 20 games to guarantee a spot in the postseason the following month.

Even worse for LeBron James’ Los Angeles team, the Lakers lost 121-109 without their best player to Ja Morant and the Grizzlies.

Whether or not LeBron James can rejoin the squad at any point this season is especially questionable; he has apparently been out for at least two weeks to allow his foot to heal.

It’s also been reported that he might retire before the 2023–24 season if the team doesn’t make it to the postseason within that crucial 14 days.
