“We´ll see how they feel when they wake up in the morning but, in all likelihood, I´m sure they´ll play,” he added.

In five of his last six games against Toronto, James has poured in at least 20 points.

“He’s just so elite,” commented Darko Rajakovic, head coach of the Raptors. After 20 years in the NBA, it’s incredible to watch a guy play at such a high level at this age. Nothing like it has ever been seen before.

The Raptors’ RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley each had 28 points. While playing in 1997–98, Toronto dropped 17 games in a row, which was a franchise record.

After taking time off for personal matters and reconditioning, Barrett and Quickley returned to the action, while Gary Trent Jr. of Toronto rested. They scored 17 points apiece in the first, but the Lakers went on an 18-4 run to end the second and take a 34-25 edge into halftime.

At halftime, Los Angeles had a 64-58 lead. After two quarters, the Lakers’ lead had grown to 100–79 thanks to nine baskets from Davis and James.

“We challenged the guys,” Ham remarked in his halftime statement. “They responded with a big defensive third quarter.”

Starting guards Jakob Poeltl and Scottie Barnes were among five injured Raptors players who did not return to the game. While he is still the subject of an investigation into gambling claims, Toronto dual-purpose player Jontay Porter missed his fifth consecutive game.

Due to a painful right knee, Raptors guard Bruce Brown left the game in the fourth quarter.

For personal reasons, Lakers forward Cam Reddish was out, and guard Gabe Vincent sat out the first game of back-to-backs as he recovered from surgery on his left knee.
