Arda Güler’s first season with Real Madrid may not have been very exciting, but on Friday, the 19-year-old helped move the team closer to winning another La Liga title.

The early goal by Güler sealed a 1-0 win over Real Sociedad. It was his second goal for the Spanish club.

It wasn’t until Friday that the teenager made his first start in La Liga for Real Madrid, which has won 35 times. He went there from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023.

Due to the importance of their match against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Tuesday, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti chose to rest some of their most important players for this game.

Jude Bellingham, Vinícius Júnior, and Antonio Rüdiger, all stars for Real Madrid, were sent to the bench so that they would be as fresh as possible for the quarterfinals next week.

It was clear that Real Madrid wasn’t at its best after the moves. One sign of a winner, though, is getting the job done even when things are hard. Real Madrid did that while keeping a clean sheet away from home.
