Kyrie Irving wears Anta Kai 1 sneakers with tassels that look like moccasins in the Mavericks’ Game 1 win.
In the first game of the Western Conference Finals, Kyrie Irving wore the strangest Anta Kai 1 sneaker version yet. It helped the Dallas Mavericks bҽat the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Irving wore the Anta Kai 1 “Chief Hélà,” a version of the shoe that looked like moccasins and had suede bows on it. The sneakers are all brown, and the bows on the collar hang off of it.
In 2018, Irving was given the name “Hélà” by the Standing Rock Soux Tribe of the Lakota people. Before she was adopted, Irving’s mother lived on the reservation as a member of the tribe. Irving has accounts on both Twitter/X and Instagram with this name.
The Anta Kai 1 was Kyrie Irving’s first signature shoe from the Chinese brand. It came out in March. So far, six colors have come out and all of them are sold out. Many of them have details that were inspired by Irving’s Native American background. The most recent pair had a “Mother’s Day” theme and was only available at the New Jersey shop Sneaker Room. This is something that his line of Nike sneakers has always done.
Irving and Anta announced their relationship last summer, after a short time of sneaker free agency. This was because Nike cut ties with their star because he shared an anti-Semitic documentary on social media and didn’t quickly denounce it.
After just eight months, his first original sneaker hit the market, which is a very quick turnaround. Irving also wore an Anta prototype shoe with his own logo in last weekend’s series-clinching win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. This could be his second signature model.
It’s not yet clear if the Anta Kai 1 “Chief Hélà” will be released to the public as of this writing.
