Despite not convincing in their 1-1 tie with Denmark, England should advance to Euro 2024
After two games in the European Championship, England is in a position that most teams would envy. Simply said, I’m not yet good enough to pursue a title.
Following a 1-1 draw with Denmark on Thursday—a semifinals team, remember—England is now undefeated and almost guaranteed to make it to the round of 16.
Additionally, it was a careless, error-prone performance that resulted in manager Gareth Southgate shouting angrily at his players for giving up numerous scoring opportunities towards the end of the game.
“I am accountable for the team’s lack of performance today,” Southgate declared, drawing jeers from supporters behind the England goal during a tumultuous second half.
At Euro 2024, Harry Kane provided England another quick start with a goal in the eighteenth minute; however, as the team waned, the captain was replaced.
After Kane gave up the ball in defense, Morten Hjulmand scored a strong long-range low shot to tie the score for Denmark in the 34th.
Southgate has led England to consistent tournament success for eight years. After defeating Denmark in the round of sixteen, the Three Lions advanced to the final of Euro 2020 and have advanced to the semifinal and quarterfinals of the last two World Cups.
