As Mason Greenwood approaches a permanent transfer abroad, he has been seen working out with a former Manchester United teammate.
After a club investigation determined that it would be better for him to pursue his career elsewhere, Greenwood spent the previous season on loan at La Liga team Getafe.
Despite the fact that his contract is still valid until 2025, United is eager to cash in on the attacker, who scored 10 goals in 36 games.
They apparently put up a £40 million asking price, but as of right now, they’ve only had one bid, about £25 million.
Greenwood was pictured with his father and is back in the UK while he awaits further developments in his case.
He was also seen participating in a brief training session with Shola Shoretire, sporting an orange football boot and a Jamaican football shirt.
When he replaces Greenwood, who was 17 years and 23 days old, against Real Sociedad in 2021, the 20-year-old becomes United’s youngest player in European competition history.
The former Bolton Wanderers loanee’s contract was up last month, and United stated that “discussions remain open” with him regarding a possible new agreement. He was then placed on the club’s retained list.
But, not much has changed, and it appears more probable that he will be going on.
However, it is not anticipated that Greenwood, 22, will resume training with his employers while he is in Manchester.
The first team will play again on July 8; several players will report for preseason later, having been granted time off after both the Copa America and Euro 2024.
Greenwood will probably be given additional time off as United looks to unload him permanently, according to The Athletic, even though he would normally be expected to be present at Carrington for fitness tests.
The two teams that seem to be vying for Greenwood’s signature are Lazio and Marseille.
