After announcing when Kylian Mbappe would be presented, Real Madrid has now officially revealed the number that the French player will wear at the club.
The Merengues said that the 25-year-old free agent will replace Karim Benzema as the club’s No. 9 player.
Really, when Benzema left Real Madrid in 2023, the No. 9 shirt was left empty. Mbappe will now wear it during the 2024–25 season.
The French player really wanted the No. 10 shirt, but since Luka Modric was still at the club, it wasn’t open for him. Because of this, he will wear the No. 9 during the next season.
Some players are getting new deals.At the same time, Real Madrid announced that some players’ jersey numbers have been changed for the next season.
First up, Federico Valverde will wear the No. 8 shirt that Toni Kroos used to wear but no longer does following his retirement.
Arda Guler, who wore No. 24 last season, will now wear No. 15, which Valverde will be leaving open.
As a replacement for the departing club leader Nacho Fernandez, Eduardo Camavinga also gets a new number. He will now be Real Madrid’s #6.
French defender Aurelien Tchouameni also gets a new number. He moves from No. 18 to No. 14, which will now be worn by Jesus Vallejo, who is back from his loan spell.
