Real Madrid has formally revealed the shirt number that Kylian Mbappe will wear for the team, following the announcement of the presentation schedule.
The 25-year-old free agent, who signed with the Merengues, will replace fellow countryman Karim Benzema as the team’s new No. 9.
In fact, Mbappe will don the No. 9 shirt for Real Madrid in the 2024–2025 season after Karim Benzema’s departure in 2023 left it empty.
The Frenchman was aiming for the No. 10 shirt, but he was unable to get it because Luka Modric was still with the team. He will therefore start the next campaign with the No. 9 on his back.

Along with a new number, Eduardo Camavinga will now wear #6 at Real Madrid, taking Nacho Fernandez’s place as the club captain who has left.
Aurelien Tchouameni, Camavinga’s countryman, also receives a new number as he moves from No. 18 to No. 14, which will now be worn by Jesus Vallejo, who is returning after a loan period.
