There may have been chaos because Colombian fans in the stands were yelling at the Uruguayan players who were losing to get off the field. Before, there were more than 70,000 people in the seats at the Bank of America Stadium, and Colombian fans often got into fights with groups of Uruguayan fans.
It took a while for the problem to be solved in a satisfactory way. The Uruguayan news source El Pais says that the f𝔦ght had a big impact on many fans, players, and other members of the Uruguayan team.
There was also a f𝔦ght between the press officer for Uruguay, Felipe Cotelo, and Jorge Giordano, who is in charge of the team. However, Uruguayan player Manuel Ugarte had to go to the stands to help family members who had been hurt by strange objects thrown by fans. Additionally, several Uruguayan fans were badly hurt during the f𝔦ght because they were attacked by the vast majority of Colombian fans.
Meanwhile, striker Nunez ran into the stands to f𝔦ght with Colombian fans. To keep things from getting worse, security staff and members of the Uruguayan team walked him to the locker room.
