Captain Martin Odegaard has given his first impressions of Riccardo Calafiori during Arsenal training.
Odegaard spoke to Hayters TV after Arsenal’s 2-1 defeat to Liverpool and said Calafiori has shown a lot of character in training. The Arsenal captain and the club’s fans are excited about the new signing’s new season.
Odegaard shared: “I think everyone saw immediately in training that he is a top player and a top defender, very strong.”
Calafiori arrives at Arsenal after many days of anticipation.
“You know he shows that on the pitch and I’m sure he’ll bring us a lot, it’s a pleasure to have him in the team and I look forward to seeing more from him.”
Arsenal already had a quality defence last season. The Gunners now have a top five defender with the addition of Calafiori and Timber to a squad that already includes William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhaes and Ben White. Unless Arteta occasionally uses Timber in the No.6 role, one of those names will be missing regularly.
