Mohamed Salah of Liverpool was photographed being chased down a street near Anfield while filming a new Pepsi commercial in the city center.
The Egyptian winger has previously appeared in ads for the soft drink company, alongside Lionel Messi, Paul Pogba, and Raheem Sterling.
A body double was hired to film some of the scenes for the advertisement, hoping to reduce Salah’s risk of injury just days before Liverpool’s Premier League match against Manchester United.
Salah’s appearance in the advertisement comes as some pundits hail him as the “best player in the world” based on his recent performance.
The Liverpool forward was seen casually dressed as he ran down the street, pursued by motorcycles and pedestrians.
It is believed that up to 50 extras were used to film the sequences, which necessitated a road closure in Liverpool’s Duke Street district.
Salah, accompanied by his agent Ramy Abbas Issa, went to the shoot on Thursday, just two days after scoring twice to help Liverpool defeat Atletico Madrid 3-2 in the Champions League.
These goals brought the former Roma player’s season total to 12 goals in only 11 appearances.
He has scored in all but one of Liverpool’s league and European games this season, the only exception being a 2-0 win over Burnley in August.
Salah had a busy week, including attending the unveiling of a waxwork of himself at Madame Tussauds London.
When Salah first saw the figure, he said, “That looks exactly like me; it’s like looking in a mirror.” Does he have abs?
He later said, “It’s a blessing to be recognized and immortalized in this way.”
“I couldn’t believe it when I stood next to “myself”; it was like looking in a mirror. I can’t wait to hear what the fans say.
“It’s been an amazing experience working with the artists at Madame Tussauds London to create my first ever wax figure.”
