The German manager left the club after their final Premier League game of the season on May 19, but returned to the city for ‘An Evening With Jurgen Klopp’, an event held at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena.

Klopp was visibly moved by the Reds fans’ tribute, which included singing while saying goodbye to the 56-year-old, who had left after nine years on the sidelines.

Video footage shared on X showed Klopp overcome with emotion as he took in the raucous noise of the crowd, which had just watched an emotional montage of his time at Liverpool.

He then stood up and placed his hand on his heart to acknowledge the support, before performing his famous fist pumps, which he frequently did while celebrating major victories as Liverpool manager.

The exclusive event, hosted by comedian John Bishop and presented by Liverpool Football Club, cost £37 per ticket.

Klopp and his wife Ulla flew back to Liverpool in a private jet the night before the event.

When the proceedings began at the arena on Tuesday, Klopp told the adoring Liverpool fans that joining the club in 2015 was the second best decision he had ever made.

‘Apart from marrying Ulla, joining Liverpool was the best decision I’ve ever made,’ Klopp told the crowd.

The 56-year-old jetted into Majorca with Ulla last week after his contract with the club expired, and was scheduled to stay at a luxury five-star hotel in the Balearic Islands while construction on their new villa was completed.

Meanwhile, Klopp revealed two weeks ago that his initial plans after leaving Liverpool were to take a vacation and attend the Champions League final to support his former team Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund will take on Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

Klopp announced in January that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the 2023-24 season, having spent nearly nine years in charge.

The farewell event at the city’s arena began with classical singer Alfie Boe’s rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone, followed by The Lightning Seeds’ performance.
