In September 2022, he first lowered the price of the six-story home after he was allegedly defrauded of £1.5 million in rent.
Due to nonpayment of rent, Sol was compelled to go in court and seek an eviction notice from the renter. He is said to have owned the residence since 2004, when his wife Fiona Barrett—an interior designer at the time—completely redesigned it.
However, three years after going up for sale, Sol has now lowered the asking price to £15 million for the property.
The magnificent property has a second two-bedroom mews home that is accessible through an underground passageway, in addition to the main house’s six bedrooms.
Along with its views of the Albert Bridge and the River Thames, it also has a wonderful drawing room, cinema, library, kitchen, and lift.
“A Grade II listed townhouse, overlooking the river, that has been extensively refurbished and excellently interior designed to create an elegant and substantial London home,” reads the listing for the property, which is listed with Knight Frank.
“With secure gated access from the front, a walled garden and further protection provided by the mews house at the rear, this is a private and secure house that offers discretion and a sense of tranquillity throughout.”
According to The Mirror, the townhouse is situated on the upscale Cheyne Walk street, which was once inhabited by Mick Jagger, George Best, and Keith Richard.
However, the football player has a contentious past with his previous residence. He previously played for Tottenham Hotspur and led Portsmouth to FA Cup triumph in 2008.
After a rent disagreement with a tenant two years prior, Sol was furious.
He said he got three months’ rent and a deposit from a gentleman who had just sold his insurance company for £1 billion, but he never got any more money.
Following his playing retirement, Sol has taken on managerial roles at Macclesfield and Southend.
However, he also has a magnificent property empire valued at a staggering £50 million, as well as his own furniture company with wife Fiona.
In addition to the Chelsea townhouse, he is rumored to own a luxurious penthouse apartment in West London and the nine-bedroom, Grade II-listed Hallington Hall in Northumberland.
