NEVER WALKING ALONE: Jurgen Klopp fights back tears amid stunning Anfield tributes as he makes a key demand for new manager

If Jurgen Klopp had any doubts, his emotional send-off on Sunday proved that he will never walk alone in Liverpool.

Their world-famous Anfield anthem was never sung so loudly and passionately as it was when the Kop bid farewell to a man who had restored their faith.

The German will leave with the hearts of the 60,000 supporters who wished him Auf Wiedersehen, as well as millions around the world.

Among them was wife Ulla, who wiped away tears as the Kop serenaded her husband, with whom she will be spending his, at least temporarily, retirement at the couple’s sunny Majorcan villa.

The departing Liverpool manager, 56, finished his reign with a 2-0 victory over 10-man Wolves at Anfield, thanks to goals from Alexis MacAllister and Jarell Quansah.

Liverpool fans lined the streets before the game and filled Anfield afterward.

Klopp was introduced to the crowd and serenaded before conducting an emotional interview in front of his team.

He said, “I am surprised. I expected to be in pieces by now, but I am not.

“I’m so happy for you all, the atmosphere, the game, being a part of this family, and how we celebrate this day.

“It does not feel like the end. It just feels like the beginning. Today I witnessed a football game full of talent, youth, creativity, desire, and greed. That is one aspect of development, and it is obviously necessary.

Luis Diaz should have made three but hit the crossbar.

The poetic ending of Egyptian king Salah scoring the final goal of Klopp’s reign was foiled when his 69th-minute shot was brilliantly tipped over by Jose Sa.

But it didn’t ruin the party, as the players dashed to hug their manager.

After the game, Virgil van Dijk told Sky Sports, “I don’t have any words.

“This has been an emotional day. It was always going to be a difficult afternoon.

“You cannot prepare for these situations or moments. He deserves all of the love he’s getting right now.”

The legendary German has indicated that he may not return to the dugout.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Klopp admitted: “It will be a long break for sure. It might even be it.

“My time in England is officially over because I will not be coaching another team here.

“If I manage again, it will not be around the corner” .

The veteran tactician is exhausted by the demands of his job and intends to escape the spotlight by retreating to the peace and tranquility of his Mallorca mansion.

According to sources close to Klopp, he is truly dissatisfied with management.

And he is now eager to live a quieter life away from the media spotlight.

Klopp gave a glimpse into his now-former office following a “strange and emotional” Liverpool training session.

The former Borussia Dortmund and Mainz manager stunned fans by joining Instagram and then sharing a heartfelt farewell video.

He then followed up with another video in which he showed supporters inside his office at the club’s training facility.

“So here I am, my last day at the office. The last session was completed, and I’d describe it as strange.

“Obviously, I decide what I think until I become overwhelmed tomorrow.

“So, I will leave this place which is… erm… yeah… an interesting experience I would say.”
