Manchester United’s players enjoyed a team bonding night at the upscale Chinese restaurant, Tattu, located just a three-minute walk from where Manchester City players were celebrating their PFA Awards wins on Tuesday night.
Although Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, who scored in Man United’s FA Cup final victory against City, were shortlisted for the PFA Men’s Young Player of the Year Award, City dominated the awards, with Phil Foden winning the Men’s Players’ Player of the Year.
Erling Haaland and Rodri were also finalists for the prestigious award and were named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season, alongside City captain Kyle Walker.
All of these City stars attended the awards ceremony at the Manchester Opera House in Deansgate, while United’s players enjoyed their night out just around the corner.
After their late win against Fulham on Friday night, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, and Rasmus Hojlund were among those seen heading to the luxurious restaurant.
Tattu, situated on Gartside Street in Spinningfields, has long been a favorite spot for footballers. After winning the Treble in 2023, several Manchester City stars, including Kevin de Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan, celebrated with a meal at the Manchester eatery, following all-night festivities in the city.
Back in 2018, City’s title-winning squad also celebrated at the Chinese restaurant, with the club going so far as to rent out the entire venue for a party attended by 500 staff members.
As for Manchester United, they are aiming to rebound this season after a disappointing 2023-24 campaign, despite triumphing over their city rivals to win the FA Cup in May.
Erik ten Hag’s side has been active in the transfer market this summer, recently securing defenders Matthijs De Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich in a combined £60 million deal.
After sustaining a raft of injuries to key defenders last season, new sporting director Dan Ashworth had made it a priority to bolster the Red Devils’ defensive stocks, with United also signing French centre back Leny Yoro from Lille.
But the Red Devils were dealt a tough blow after signing the 18-year-old on a £52m deal, with the young defender sustaining a metatarsal injury during his side’s recent friendly against Arsenal during their pre-season tour of Los Angeles.
