MU have confirmed the sale of Facundo Pellistri to Panathinaikos, the Greek team have also praised their latest recruit.
Facundo Pellistri has been sold by Manchester United to Panathinaikos. According to BBC, the deal is worth £6.8m, with the Red Devils set to receive £5.1m for the winger, plus £1.7m in add-ons.
Ten Hag have also included a buy-back clause that will run until 2027, and they will also be entitled to 45% of any future sale proceeds from Panathinaikos. Pellistri spent four years at Old Trafford from 2020 to 2024, after moving from Club Atlético Penarol in Uruguay, for a fee of around £9m.
However, the 22-year-old has never been able to break into the starting line-up on a regular basis, making just 25 appearances for the Red Devils’ first team in total. He spent time on loan at La Liga side Granada last season – scoring an impressive goal in a 3-3 draw with Barcelona in February – but will now leave England for Greece.
On the homepage, the Greek team wrote: “ Panathinaikos announces the signing of Facundo Pellistri from Manchester United. The 22-year-old Uruguayan attacking midfielder has signed a four-year contract and will strengthen the team with his great talent and outstanding footballing qualities.”
Meanwhile, MU wrote: “Facundo Pellistri has joined Panathinaikos on a permanent transfer. The Uruguayan, who represented his country at the Copa America this summer, is heading to the Greek League to continue his career.”
