While playing for Turkey on international duty right now, Guler has opened up on why he decided to sign with Real Madrid instead of his other suitors, saying that it was just like many other children’s dreams.

He said to El Chiringuito TV (via MARCA) that “I think that many children’s dream from a young age is to play for Real Madrid, the biggest club in the world.”

Guler continued by saying that Real Madrid had discussed with him their long-term goals for him at the team, including the fact that they considered him to be Luka Modric’s heir apparent.

“They gave me a project that would take a long time. I was certain that everything was set up the moment Madrid and I sat down at that table,” he remarked.

“Luka Modric is an amazing player, so I was impressed when Real Madrid told me I was going to be his crown prince.”

“That’s it, I said when I heard about the project,” he continued.

Regarding his minutes

Due to three injuries, Guler had a rough beginning to his Real Madrid career, having to wait until the second half of the season to make his debut.

The 19-year-old did not get as many playing minutes as he would have preferred even in that situation. The adolescent answered thus when questioned about it:

“I try my hardest every day to play, and I become unhappy when I don’t. Before coming here, I had a lot of conversations with the coach.

“Ancelotti gave me realistic plans and said I could play as much as I’m ready.”

The teenager went on to strɛʂs that it has not been simple to adjust to the new environment, emphasizing that adaptation is the most crucial factor. I still need to work on my Spanish, but I had to adjust to social life. I have to grow up socially. Everyone can speak Spanish, but learning it is quite challenging.

“There is no translation; the instructor explains anything in Spanish. Every member of the team speaks Spanish. It is really challenging. Twice a week, I attend one-hour Spanish classes.
