Man Utd were quite unlucky at the Amex Stadium when the referee twice denied goals and conceded a goal in the last minute of injury time. Brighton won 2-1 in the early match of round 2 of the 2024-25 Premier League.
Man Utd visited Brighton’s Amex Stadium with an unchanged lineup compared to the win over Fulham. In the first half, both Man Utd and Brighton barely had a shot on each other’s goal.
The turning point of the match came in the 32nd minute, Man Utd’s defense was quite loose in marking. Mitoma received the ball comfortably in the penalty area and then crossed for Welbeck to tap the ball into the goal to open the score.
A minute after conceding, Man Utd scored against the home team, but the goal was disallowed because Rashford was offside. For the rest of the first half, the match returned to the “sleepy” state as in the beginning.
After the break, both teams increased the pace of the match, making it more exciting. In the first 15 minutes of the second half, Brighton continuously threatened the away team’s goal, most notably Welbeck’s header from a corner kick, Onana stood still and watched but the ball hit the crossbar and bounced out.
