MU transfer: Along with recruiting Ugarte from PSG, Man Utd is also preparing to complete 3 other deals before the match against Liverpool – when the 2024 summer transfer window in England closes.
On the afternoon of August 26, Technical Director Jason Wilcox flew to Paris to negotiate with PSG about the deal to recruit Manuel Ugarte. According to Fabrizio Romano, Scott McTominay’s agreement to join Napoli is the key for Man United to speed up the process of recruiting Ugarte.
Paris Saint-Germain have left Ugarte out of their last two Ligue 1 matches to allow the midfielder to finalise his future. The French club have also agreed to sell Ugarte to Man Utd for £50m, lower than the original figure. The Uruguayan midfielder has agreed to join MU and is only waiting for the two clubs to finalise payment terms.
In addition to McTominay, Man United will likely say goodbye to two other stars in the remainder of the summer transfer window of 2024. Jadon Sancho will leave MU if a team is willing to spend 40 million pounds for the English midfielder. Man Utd is willing to loan Jadon Sancho on the condition that the partner agrees to a mandatory purchase clause in the summer of 2025.
In another development, midfielder Hannibal Mejbri will say goodbye to MU to join Burnley, he has now completed the medical examination. The transfer fee in this deal was not disclosed, however MU will receive a commission if Burnley sells the Tunisian midfielder in the future.
If nothing changes, these will be the last 4 deals to close Man United’s 2024 summer transfer window. MU’s 5 new players before the summer transfer window closes are Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Mathijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte.
The 23-year-old midfielder will fly to Manchester for a medical in the next 24 hours. If the registration process goes smoothly, Ugarte will make his debut in the big match between MU and Liverpool at Old Trafford, round 3 of the 2024/25 Premier League.
