Jude Bellingham receives a Ballon d’Or nomination, yet neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo is included

Jude Bellingham is nominated for the Ballon d’Or, but neither Lionel Messi nor Cristiano Ronaldo are.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are not among the 30 players nominated for the Ballon d’Or for men, which is the first time since 2003 that this has not happened. Jude Bellingham of England is one of those 30 players.

Ronaldo, who has won the award five times for Portugal, also didn’t get nominated last year. Messi, who won for a record eighth time in 2023 and has been nominated 16 times, also didn’t get nominated this year, even though Argentina won the Copa America.

Spain won Euro 2024 and has six players named. These include Nico Williams, Alejandro Grimaldo, Dani Olmo, Rodri, and Dani Carvajal, a winger for Barcelona who is 17 years old and won the Champions League with Real Madrid.

Real has seven players named, including Kylian Mbappe, who just signed from Paris St. Germain. Bellingham and Vinicius Junior, who is from Brazil, are the other two players from the Spanish club.

England came in second place at Euro 2024, behind Spain. Along with Bellingham, Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Cole Palmer, and Phil Foden are also nominated.

Barcelona, winners of the Champions League, has six nominations for the Ballon d’Or Feminin for women. This includes Aitana Bonmati, who won last year, and Alexia Putellas, who has won it twice before.

To choose the best player in the world, the 2024 Ballon d’Or Awards will be held in Paris on October 28.
