Virgil van Dijk and Joshua Zirkzee completely ignored each other in the tunnel before the Netherlands match.

The Netherlands cruised to a comprehensive 5-2 win in the Nations League on Saturday. Pictures from the tunnel showed Virgil van Dijk in his senior form. Before the game, he went around to each player to shake their hand.

The 33-year-old centre-back shook hands with some of his team-mates, including Denzel Dumfries and Nathan Ake.

The Liverpool star was full of encouragement and motivation for his teammates.

The notable moment came when Van Dijk saw Joshua Zirkzee. However, both ignored each other, causing fans to gossip.

Zirkzee looked straight ahead, seemingly unconcerned with Van Dijk, who took the initiative to greet the former Bologna player’s teammates behind him.

Van Dijk greeted the Dutch mascots with a friendly greeting. The Premier League pair were later seen hugging on the pitch, so it seemed like an unusual occurrence. But that didn’t stop fans speculating on social media.

Van Dijk looked after everyone in the tunnel except Zirkzee.

 

Many people speculate that Zirkzee is still bitter about the recent 0-3 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford.

The two will face each other many times in the Premier League in the future.

Van Dijk and the team still have one Nations League match against Germany.
