After missing out on signing Raphinha, Al Nassr has shifted their focus to Manchester United’s Antony this summer. Antony, who previously played alongside Ronaldo at Manchester United, is now a target for Al Nassr as they look to bring him to Saudi Arabia.
Al-Nassr is contemplating signing Antony for a new winger role this summer, with an initial offer already on the table, as reported by Football Insider.
Initially interested in Barcelona’s Raphinha, the Saudi club is now said to have redirected their attention to Antony, who played alongside Ronaldo at Manchester United during the first half of the 2022-23 season.
Antony’s time at Manchester United has been disappointing since his record £85 million ($108 million) transfer in 2022. With just 16 goals or assists in 82 appearances, his departure would likely have a significant impact on the team.
While Manchester United is looking to sell Antony this summer, Football Insider reports that they are open to loaning him out as long as his £100,000-per-week salary is covered. With three years remaining on his contract, a temporary move might be more financially feasible.
It remains uncertain whether Antony will participate in the Community Shield match against Manchester City this weekend. Erik ten Hag’s team will kick off the 2024 Premier League season at home against Fulham on August 16.
