Lamine Yamal scores twice as Barca secures five wins in five matches in La Liga

Girona 1–4 Barcelona wins its fifth straight La Liga game, with two goals from Lamine Yamal.

Barcelona bҽat Girona 4-1 to make it five wins in a row in La Liga. Teenage star Lamine Yamal scored two goals, and Barcelona won all five games. The 17-year-old already has a European Championship winner’s award from leading Spain to victory over the summer. He is now leading Barcelona’s charge to win the domestic title back from Real Madrid. Pedri and Dani Olmo both scored as well.

With a 4-1 win over local foes Girona, Barcelona kept their perfect start to the Liga season going.

Barça wanted to keep their perfect start under new boss Hansi Flick, while Girona wanted to get closer to the spots in the UEFA Champions League.

Early on, both teams from Catalonia had chances, but David Lopez was stolen by Lamine Yamal, who scored the first goal on the half-hour mark. He then added a second seven minutes later.

Barça defender Inigo Martinez seemed to handle the ball in the box, which caused a stir. However, after a VAR check, the judge decided not to give a penalty.

Dani Olmo scored the third goal almost right away in the second half, and Pedri bҽat the goalkeeper to add a fourth on 64 minutes.

Cristhian Stuani scored a late consolation goal with 10 minutes left, but Barcelona didn’t have any other problems, even though Ferran Torres got sent off late for a high tackle on Yaser Asprilla.

Barcelona is still on top of the table after their win. On Thursday, they play Monaco in the Champions League.
