The most recent in the Spanish capital is that Vinicius Junior, a forward for Real Madrid, will be named the greatest player in the world next month.

The Brazilian forward was one of the front-runners for the trophy in a far less clear field this year after helping Real Madrid win both the Champions League and La Liga last season. According to Marca, Vinicius has already been told that he will win the 2024 Ballon d’Or, which is given out by a group of journalists on behalf of France Football.

 

 

 

Vinicius is going to win the Ballon d’Or, which is scheduled to happen in Paris on October 28th, immediately following El Clasico. Plans have already been made for the Nike store on Gran Via in Madrid to redesign their exhibit into a gold-themed homage to Real Madrid’s Ballon d’Or winners.

Real Madrid has dominated the Ballon d’Or in recent years, with the exception of Lionel Messi’s eight wins. Only Luka Modric and Karim Benzema have managed to unseat Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s duopoly thus far. For the first time in almost 20 years, none of the two greats is on the shortlist this time.
