Manchester United is said to be evaluating Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag’s future at Manchester United appears increasingly uncertain following Sunday’s 3-0 home defeat to Tottenham, which drew criticism from former players like Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand. Inzaghi, who guided Inter to the Serie A title last season, has also secured two Coppa Italia trophies.
Additionally, his team reached the Champions League final in 2023 but lost to Manchester City. He won the Coppa Italia with Lazio during the 2018-19 season.
The report also mentions Gareth Southgate, the former England manager, as another potential candidate for the United job. Since stepping down after England’s loss to Spain in the 2024 Euro final, Southgate has been out of management.
After winning the FA Cup, Ten Hag received a contract extension over the summer. However, United’s performance has not improved, and they currently sit in 13th place in the Premier League, having earned only seven points from their first six matches.
According to Goal, it would cost Manchester United £17.5 million to appoint a new manager after Ten Hag’s contract extension.
