Kylian Mbappe miraculously recovers, with Real Madrid returning to his homeland France, to face Lille, matchday 2 of the 2024/25 Champions League group stage.
Marca reported that Kylian Mbappe’s thigh injury suffered in the Real Madrid 3-2 Deportivo Alaves match on September 25 was not as serious as initially feared – expected to be absent for 3 weeks.
This source said that Mbappe started thigh rehabilitation immediately after the diagnosis and that played an important role in helping him return earlier than expected, bringing good news to coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Mbappe sat out last weekend’s Madrid derby, Real Madrid 1-1 Atletico, with the reigning La Liga champions allowing the home team to equalize in the 90+5 minute, after Militao had put the team ahead 30 minutes earlier.
Although he is on the Real Madrid squad for the match against Lille (2am on October 3), Mbappe is unlikely to start. Instead, he will wait until the weekend to join his teammates at the Bernabeu to face Villarreal in round 9 of La Liga (2am on October 6).
Real Madrid have dropped 6 points after only 8 rounds in La Liga this season, so they certainly do not want to suffer a 4th draw and must take all 3 points against Villarreal.
Ancelotti’s team is currently 3 points behind rivals Barca (18 compared to 21). As for Mbappe, after 3 quiet matches, he currently has 5 goals and 1 assist in La Liga.
