Camavinga becomes a tragic figure against Lille

After a handball by French international Eduardo Camavinga, Jonathan David scored the winning goal for Lille.

Kylian Mbappe returned from injury but that could not help Real Madrid avoid a 0-1 defeat at Lille, in the second round of the Champions League group stage.

Traveling to France, coach Ancelotti decided to give the young prodigy Endrick a chance to start from the beginning, alongside Vinicius. While both Mbappe and Rodrygo sat on the bench.

With a higher level, although Real Madrid did not really dominate the game, they always knew how to create dangerous opportunities towards Lille’s goal.

After Vinicius and Bellingham threatened, it was Endrick’s turn to make a solo run of more than 30m into the penalty area. However, the final with his left foot hit goalkeeper Chevalier.

The French team responded with two consecutive close-range shots by Jonathan David. Luckily for Real Madrid, Lunin made two miraculous saves.

At the end of the first half, Camavinga let the ball bounce in the penalty area. After consulting VAR, the referee awarded the home team a penalty. From a distance of 11m, David easily opened the score for Lille.

After the break, Lille focused on playing defensive counter-attacks. After a few minutes of still deadlocked attacks, coach Ancelotti immediately sent Mbappe and veteran Luka Modric onto the field.

On the other hand, the French representative still had impressive attacks, especially on the right wing. Zhegrova almost doubled the gap with a long-range shot.

As time passed towards the end, the white shirts showed impatience. They continuously stuffed balls into the penalty area, but neither Rudiger nor Guler could defeat goalkeeper Chevalier.

Unable to score, Real Madrid had to accept a humiliating defeat in France.
