Midfielder Bruno Fernandes was sent off for the second consecutive match, as Man Utd had a dramatic 3-3 draw with Porto in the Europa League
In Man Utd’s 0-3 loss to Tottenham on October 1, Bruno Fernandes received a straight red card after fouling James Maddison. However, the Old Trafford team successfully appealed and Bruno Fernandes had his 3-match suspension overturned.
However, in the match against Porto in the Europa League on the morning of October 4 at Dragao Stadium (Porto, Portugal), the Portuguese midfielder once again received a second yellow card that turned into a red card and left the field in disappointment.
Man Utd started the match very well when they took a two-goal lead after just 20 minutes after goals from Marcus Rashford (7th minute) and Rasmus Hojlund (20th minute).
But Porto came back strongly with a goal from Pepe (27th minute) and an equalizer from Samu Omorodion (34th minute). Omorodion continued to shine with a second goal of his own in the 52nd minute to give Porto the lead.
While trailing, Bruno Fernandes made things difficult for Man Utd when he received a second yellow card after a high tackle on Nehuen Perez. The Argentine player then fell to the ground, holding his face and the referee pulled out a second yellow card.
A defeat would have added to the pressure on manager Erik Ten Hag after a difficult start to the season, but substitute Harry Maguire saved the Dutchman’s job with a stoppage-time equaliser.
“We started the game very well and we dominated and scored two nice goals, but then we lost control. The start was good, the middle was not so good and we finished very well.
