Aurélien Tchouaméni’s response upon being named captain of France

Real Madrid midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni will captain France in the absence of Kylian Mbappé, who was omitted from Didier Deschamps’ squad to face Israel and Belgium in the UEFA Nations League

The UEFA Nations League matches against Real Madrid and Belgium will see Aurélien Tchouaméni, 24, captain France instead of Kylian Mbappé, 25, who was left out of Didier Deschamps’ team. This was verified by the French Football Federation (FFF).

Tchouaméni made an appearance in a press conference later that day to respond to receiving the captain’s armband after the FFF made its announcement earlier on Wednesday.

He declared, “I take on this responsibility with a great deal of honor.” The coach and I had a conversation after which he told me of his choice. Naturally, I’m content. I’m incredibly pleased. Helping my team, whether it is Real Madrid or France, is what matters most to me.

The former AS Monaco midfielder was also questioned about if the France team unanimously approved of his selection as captain. “Cohesion? I’m not sure. It is critical that all players have the same goals, desire to win games, and level of performance. Different people can be leaders in different contexts: on the field, in the classroom, through speech, or by setting an example. In order to become a captain, you must check off two items.
