Chile quickly enforced the game at the National Stadium in Santiago, the country’s capital. They constantly timed quick passes in the center of the field, stretched the opposition’s flanks, crossed inside, or shifted their to the center. Brazil paid the price for their man-marking error in the second minute. With ease, Eduardo Vargas goalkeeper Ederson by heading a cross from the right side into the far corner.

Ederson began this game because Alisson Becker was hurt. Brazil was further debilitated by the loss of their primary goalscorer Vinicius and their dependable center-back Bremer for similar reasons.

Moreover, Brazil’s midfield was unable to hold the ball. In all the blocking and attacking phases, Andre, Lucas Paqueta, and Raphinha did not speak with a single voice. Chile nearly doubled the lead in the thirteenth minute, but Dario Osorio’s long-range attempt missed the mark after going past three Brazilian midfielders.

Brazil’s performance only improved after the first half’s conclusion. In the forty-first minute, they counterattacked from the penalty area and tied the score at one. Igor Jesus headed a cross into the far corner of the Chilean goal after receiving it from the right side.

In his debut for the national squad, Jesus scored. After spending four years in the United Arab Emirates with Shabab Al Ahli, the 23-year-old striker has returned to Brazil to play for Botafogo. Compared to Real Madrid sensation Endrick, who is eighteen years old, coach Dorival has greater faith in Jesus.
