Jack Grealish reveals Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick against Finland cost him £500.
Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick cost Grealish £500
Alexander-Arnold’s stunning free-kick into the corner was the highlight of England’s game against Finland. And Jack Grealish revealed he gave Trent a little extra motivation before taking the shot.
“I said, ‘If you score from this free-kick I’ll give you £500’. And he stuck it into the corner. So now I owe him that.”
Jack Grealish has enjoyed a resurgence under Lee Carsley. After shining in the win over Ireland last month, he was back on the wing against Finland and scored a goal.
“It was a difficult game at times in the first half. But I think we dominated the game in the final minutes. At the end, we were a little disappointed to concede a goal from a set piece. We needed a win today so I’m glad we got it.”
After the match, manager Lee Carsley also had praise for Alexander-Arnold.
“Trent’s ability speaks for itself. I don’t think I’ve found a place for him on the left. He deserves it.
We get bogged down in whether he’s best at left-back, right-back or somewhere else. But as long as he’s effective, it’s great to have him in the team.”
