Liverpool goalkeeper makes unbelievable mistake

Caoimhin Kelleher from hero to villain as Republic of Ireland loses 0-2 to Greece

In the match of Group B2 of the UEFA Nations League, the Republic of Ireland played away to Greece, Kelleher and his teammates had a tough match against the opponent who had just defeated England. For most of the match, the Liverpool goalkeeper shone with spectacular saves.

However, Kelleher’s pass straight to Mantalos’ feet in the 90+1 minute drowned all efforts of the Republic of Ireland. The Liverpool goalkeeper made an unbelievable mistake while advancing to play the ball, allowing the Greek player to easily score into an empty net, sealing a 2-0 victory.

Before that, Kelleher also had to go into the net to receive the ball in the 48th minute, after the opponent’s shot hit the Republic of Ireland defender, leaving the goalkeeper helpless. However, the pass went straight to Mantalos, which ended the Republic of Ireland’s attempt to equalise.

This is not the first time Kelleher has made a silly mistake. In April, the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper also made a mistake in Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat to Atalanta in the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals.
