With Eriksen’s current deal at United set to expire in June and the club unlikely to renew his £150,000-a-week contract, the Dutch side is prepared to offer the Danish international a three-year agreement.

Christian Eriksen has made 80 appearances for Manchester United but had a challenging 2023/24 season, starting only 12 Premier League games and facing transfer rumors over the summer. Despite staying at the club, the 32-year-old midfielder has had a solid start to the 2024/25 season, contributing three goals and three assists in eight appearances.

However, the recent takeover by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS group has cast doubt on his long-term future, as the new leadership is hesitant to invest in older players.

Eriksen confirmed this week that contract extension talks have yet to begin, and according to The Sun, he may return to Ajax when his deal ends on June 30.

Eriksen started his career in Amsterdam, making 163 appearances for Ajax before moving to Tottenham in 2013.

According to reports, Ajax is eager to finalize a deal in January, when Eriksen will be free to talk to other clubs as his free agency nears. However, he will remain with Manchester United for the rest of the season.

The Dutch club is reportedly ready to offer Eriksen a three-year contract, which could see him play until retirement. Saudi Arabian clubs are also monitoring his situation.

Eriksen has been transparent about his contract status, telling Bold while on international duty with Denmark ahead of their Nations League match against Spain: “No, we’re not discussing staying right now. I have one year left, and we can revisit the conversation next year when things may be different.”
