😬 Cristiano Ronaldo was unhappy with the referee at full-time after the match between Scotland and Portugal…
Shameful acts by Ronaldo on Scottish players and the referee
Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has come under heavy fire following Portugal’s tie with Scotland in the fourth group stage encounter in the UEFA Nations League 2024–25.
Scotland and Portugal drew 0-0 in the Nations League, ending Portugal’s three-match winning streak. Ronaldo continued to play with tremendous effort in this game, but he was unable to leave a lasting impact.
Notably, when referee Lawrence Visser sounded the final whistle, CR7 also reacted violently. Portugal was “robbed” of a corner in the final minute, according to CR7, by the Belgian referee.
The Al Nassr star was furious and would not stop yelling and swinging his arms at the referee. Out of control, CR7 stormed down the tunnel without even shaking hands with the Scottish players or saying hello to the Portuguese supporters who had flocked to the stadium to offer their support. He also made fun of the supporters of the home team.
Ronaldo has drawn a lot of criticism on social media as a result of his conduct. The statement “Cristiano Ronaldo is holding Portugal back” was made by someone. “Cristiano Ronaldo should forget about the 2026 World Cup,” said a second person. He’s accomplished enough for football. One user said, “I adore him. I think he’s the greatest. But consider how much more superior Portugal would be in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo.
A different individual was upset: “Cristiano Ronaldo may be a great footballer but my god, his antics on the football pitch are getting more and more embarrassing every time I watch him” . “Portugal are going nowhere under Martinez,” another person wrote. Even though Ronaldo is obviously out of date and a liability to the team, he is to bench him.”
Even though Ronaldo squandered several opportunities on Tuesday night, he wasn’t the only Portugal player to perform poorly. Diogo Jota of Liverpool and Bruno Fernandes of Man United both had trouble, and Portugal didn’t really take the lead until Roberto Martinez made his second-half substitutions.
Portugal’s winning streak has come to an end, and they will now have to wait until November to formally secure their spot in the quarterfinals. Their next two games are against Croatia away and Poland at home. Ronaldo, on the other hand, is going back to Al Nassr to concentrate on the Saudi Pro League championship.
