Rumer Willis recently praised her well-known parents Bruce Willis and Demi Moore for setting a positive example despite their divorce twenty-four years ago.
Rumer remarked, “I’m so grateful,” in a fresh interview with PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of Trail of Vengeance, on October 17. Just their love and encouragement of each other is, in my opinion, one of the most wonderful things to see in my parents’ marriage still.
Apart from Rumer, Bruce and Demi have two daughters together; the Die Hard actor also tied the knot in 2009 with Emma Heming Willis, his wife.
“It means so much to me, the way that my mom, and I think to all of my sisters and I, the way that my mom shows up for all of us as we are working with it, as she is working with it, even how she is with my other little sisters,” explained the Air Strike actor.
Rumer told the magazine, “We’re family and we head over to supper at Emma’s place with the girls. And while family can appear differently in many respects, it’s really about what it represents.
Rumer also valued her parents’ attempts to avoid setting “the children against each other”.
“I never had to share a holiday. Family vacations, Christmases, birthdays—none of which we had to divide. And I believe that much of the time, it’s just our own ego.
Rumer continued, “If you put your kids first, if you’re arguing with that person and can’t set aside whatever it is for your kid, that’s about you. That is my perspective on it. And I understand it’s difficult occasionally.
