Erik ten Hag lowered his head as he departed his Cheshire home following Ruud van Nistelrooy’s takeover at Manchester United

MANCHESTER UNITED has dismissed manager Erik ten Hag. The Dutchman exits Old Trafford with the team sitting in 14th place in the Premier League.

Ten Hag was spotted getting into the back of his car as he departed his Cheshire residence. The 54-year-old lowered his head while preparing to head back to the Netherlands. His assistant, Ruud van Nistelrooy, will assume the role of interim manager during the recruitment process for a new head coach.

A club statement announced, “Erik ten Hag has stepped down from his position as manager of Manchester United’s men’s first team.

“Appointed in April 2022, Erik guided the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.

“We appreciate everything Erik has contributed during his tenure and wish him the best for his future endeavors.

“Ruud van Nistelrooy will lead the team as interim head coach, with support from the existing coaching staff, while we search for a permanent head coach.”
