Liverpool put mansion where Klopp, Rodgers and Gerrard lived up to
Liverpool have put their £4m club home up for sale, after his successor Arne Slot turned down a move.
Arne Slot and his wife Mirjam were shown around the seven-bedroom mansion but are still deciding what their next move will be. The club have now put the gated property on the market – ending a 20-year relationship.
A source said: “The club identified it as an ideal location for their new managers. Arne was offered the property when he took over in the summer but chose to live elsewhere. As a result, the club have decided to cut their losses.”
Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard bought the home in Formby, Merseyside, in 2005 after it was built by a local developer. The property has three living rooms, a games room, a swimming pool, a two-storey gym, a solarium, a tub, a sauna and a cinema.
When Gerrard moved to American side LA Galaxy in 2015, he sold the house to the club’s new manager, Brendan Rodgers. He was sacked in October that year but retained the property and rented it out to Klopp.
In 2019, Liverpool bought the property as an investment and are believed to have allowed Klopp, 57, to stay rent-free. The German and his wife Ulla have often been spotted at a local pub. The van moved in after he announced he was stepping down.
Slot, 46, who impressed at Feyenoord, has made the best start to life at Anfield of any manager, winning 11 of his first 12 games. In the most recent match, Liverpool drew 2-2 at Arsenal’s home ground.
