Edwards and Gobert raise concerns about Nikola Jokic’s ‘cheating’ brilliance in a narrow victory

Nikola Jokic demonstrated his basketball intelligence by predicting a play from the Timberwolves, leading Rudy Gobert to comment that Jokic “knew the play better than us.” The game on Friday night between the Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves highlighted why Jokic is often regarded as a basketball genius.

As the game entered crunch time, Jokic accurately called out one of Minnesota’s plays, prompting Gobert to acknowledge his insight.

“Jokic knew the play, but we didn’t say anything. He knew the play better than us,” Gobert remarked.

Anthony Edwards added his astonishment, saying, “Nobody said nothing!”

“It was three minutes left in the fourth,” Edwards elaborated, still incredulous. “Right after the timeout, me and Rudy lined up, and this dude said (inaudible). How did he know? That’s cheating, bro.”

Gobert humorously concluded, “Yeah, we need to run an investigation.”

Unfortunately for the Nuggets, all that basketball acumen wasn’t enough to secure a win. They squandered a 10-point lead in the last four minutes, losing 119-116.

Jokic ended the game with 26 points, nine rebounds, and 13 assists, making him the first player in NBA history to achieve a 150/50/50 stat line through the first five games of a season.
