Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane used Real Madrid’s famous lockers for sale as part of the club’s world-first mega auction; bidding starts at an amazing £10,000.
After finishing the Santiago Bernabeu restoration, Real Madrid is auctioning off some famous relics from the club’s past; famed lockers from their dressing room will be the main attraction to bidders.
A 24-locker collection will comprise changing room cabinets originally ascribed to Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Zinedine Zidane, Sergio Ramos, David Beckham and Luis Figo.
Two weeks of sales for the lockers will see bidding open from November 12 and a reserve price set on every individual exhibit of £10,000.
After finishing their amazing £500m overhaul of the famous stadium in September last year, Madrid chose to auction fragments of the trophy-laden past of the team.
The objects will be on show at Sotheby’s London Galleries for the bidding period; the sale marks the first time in history any locker from a European championship squad has ever been offered at auction.
Given the worldwide appeal of each celebrity who helped bring great success to the team, lockers once used by Ronaldo, Zidane, and Beckham are projected to fetch the greatest fee.
Every locker will look exactly as it did for the last season before the stadium restoration; the former dressing room had six Premier League and Champions League trophies during its lifetime.
