Real Madrid seems to no longer receive absolute support from Santiago Bernabéu after a series of poor performances at the start of this season. The 1-3 loss to AC Milan saw intense anger from the fans, who booed Tchouaméni for the mistake that led to the opponent’s opening goal
Real Madrid lose to AC Milan: Vinicius, Mbappe ‘dud’ face criticism
Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe face criticism after Real Madrid lost 1-3 to AC Milan in the Champions League.
“Real Madrid’s defeat in the Clasico repeats the against AC Milan,” AS commented in an article published in a prominent position on its homepage this morning (November 6). Real Madrid lost 1-3 to AC Milan at home. This defeat further increased the sadness of Real Madrid fans after a series of unfavorable events.
Another author in AS commented: “Two consecutive injuries – Vinicius’ golden ball turned into a dud and the in the face in El Clasico – turned into rain at the Bernabeu. This is not the right time to start a series of losses for a team that has made turning the situation around a habit.”
Malick Thiaw opened the scoring for AC Milan in the 12th minute. Real Madrid equalised with a Vinicius penalty but conceded shortly afterwards. The Spanish side’s defence was poor in both situations.
In the second half, Real Madrid missed many chances and could not score more goals. In contrast, AC Milan sealed a 3-1 victory with a goal from Tijjani Reijnders.
Vinicius and Mbappe – the strikers in Real Madrid’s 4-4-2 formation – were the focus of criticism after the defeat. Coach Carlo Ancelotti still seems to have not found a way to combine Real Madrid’s two attacking stars.
“The second goal came from a pass to Vinicius. He stood still, didn’t look at the ball and didn’t help in defense. The Brazilian striker wasn’t sharp either, plus his back passes were poor and he didn’t control the ball well. Fans at the Bernabeu were angry with Vinicius’s attitude and passivity at the end of the match,” Marca commented on Vinicius and gave him 6 points.
Mbappe also received a similar score with the assessment: “This striker was unlucky and couldn’t get the ball into the opponent’s goal. He was very active in but didn’t help in defense.”
Marca also had a separate analysis of Vinicius, saying that these two players were the reason why Real Madrid didn’t play well in the early stages of the season. Accordingly, the Bernabeu team seemed to “handicap” their opponents with 2 players when defending.
“The two front players were completely separated when they didn’t have the ball. Every time the ball passed, they didn’t run or make any effort to help their team win the ball back. There was no connection between the two characters,” commented Marca.
Marcador commentator Vero Boquete said Real Madrid’s performance was not football and that the team was clearly in crisis. The loss to AC Milan was a combination of a weak defense, a midfield that couldn’t control the ball and an ineffective forward.
Meanwhile, coach Carlo Ancelotti did not think the problem lay with the forwards.
The Italian coach spoke after the match about the effectiveness of the Vinicius-Mbappe duo: “Today we created many chances when attacking but lacked precision. In my opinion, Real Madrid should have scored more goals. What is even more worrying is that this was accompanied by the opponents approaching our goal too easily. This is the main problem that Real Madrid needs to overcome.”
