Federico Valverde’s wife criticises Carlo Ancelotti after AC Milan defeat
Fede Valverde’s wife, Mina Bonino, slammed Carlo Ancelotti on social media during Real Madrid’s loss to AC Milan, prompting a strong reply
Federico Valverde’s wife has criticised Carlo Ancelotti following Real Madrid’s 3-1 home defeat to AC Milan in the Champions League.
Malick Thiaw gave Milan an early lead at the Santiago Bernabeu before Vinicius Junior equalised for the hosts from the penalty spot. Alvaro Morata then found the back of the net for his former club before the break, while Tijjani Reijnders scored his fourth goal in three games to seal Milan’s victory in the second half.
Federico Valverde started on the right wing for Madrid, but the Uruguayan was substituted at half-time. Aurelien Tchouameni, who was whistled by Madrid fans during the first half at the Bernabeu, was also substituted at half-time.
During the match, Valverde’s wife, Mina Bonino, made it clear that she was unhappy with Ancelotti’s decision to play her husband, a central midfielder, in a wider position for Madrid. Replying to a Madrid fan on X, Bonino wrote: “Fede plays best as a midfielder. What are you talking about? When will they understand once and for all that Fede is not a winger?”
When another user on X criticised Valverde for his role in Morata’s goal for Milan, Bonino replied: “He played as a winger. Do you know? Because I have never seen strikers criticised for not dropping back, but idiots everywhere are criticised.”
When asked about Bonino’s comments after Madrid’s defeat, Ancelotti said: “From what people think on social media… for me it’s complicated. I took him off because for me he was not 100% fit, he had a back problem, it seemed like he recovered because he trained well yesterday but it seemed like he was not at his best, that’s why I took him off.”
