Coach Didier Deschamps decided to remove the Real Madrid star from the list of French players for the November matches of the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League.
On the evening of November 7, the French team announced the list for this month’s training session. Kylian Mbappe was again left out of the French team’s squad for the upcoming two UEFA Nations League matches against Israel and Italy.
This is the second time in a row in the past two months that the French captain has been absent. Previously, in the October training session, Mbappe was also absent from two matches against Israel and Belgium.
Mbappe’s continued absence from the national team is sure to cause controversy. Last month, French fans were unhappy with the news that Mbappe had asked to be absent from the national team training session.
Mbappe is said to have asked coach Deschamps not to call him up for the Nations League matches. The Real Madrid striker has prioritized focusing on his club, amid his poor form recently.
When he was not with the French national team in October, Mbappe went to a bar in Sweden and was involved in a sexual assault scandal. The incident happened on the night of October 12, right when the French team won 4-1 against Israel in the Nations League.
Mbappe is now fully fit, after consecutive appearances against AC Milan in the Champions League and against Barca in La Liga in the past two weeks.
Only one Real Madrid star, Eduardo Camavinga, was called up by coach Deschamps to the “Les Bleus” squad for two UEFA Nations League matches against Israel and Italy.
