AMAD DIALLO made it clear that he deserves a spot in the starting XI with his standout performance against PAOK, sending a strong message to Ruud van Nistelrooy and incoming manager Ruben Amorim.
The 22-year-old was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise sluggish Manchester United display as they secured a 2-0 win. The team started slowly in the Europa League tie, but they eventually claimed their first European victory in over a year.
The first half at Old Trafford was uneventful, but after the break, Amad changed the game for the Red Devils. He scored with a looping header that found the far corner of the net, then won the ball back high up the pitch before curling a shot into the same corner.
Here’s how we rated the United players during Van Nistelrooy’s penultimate game as interim manager:
ANDRE ONANA – 6
Made a crucial save with a tip-over to deny a Camara half-volley. Most of his other stops were routine.
NOUSSAIR MAZRAOUI – 6
A solid but unspectacular performance. Becoming a reliable presence each week.
VICTOR LINDELOF – 6
Flat-footed once in the first half but remained composed for the rest of the game. Played a part in starting a few attacks.
JONNY EVANS – 6
Used his experience well at the back. However, was fortunate to escape a potential mistake that could have led to a second-half chance for PAOK.
DIOGO DALOT – 4
Struggled throughout the game, and it was surprising he wasn’t substituted sooner.
CASEMIRO – 6
Played a key role in initiating most of United’s attacks, though there wasn’t much offensive play to note.
MANUEL UGARTE – 5
Fell short of being the midfield anchor United hoped for, with disappointing distribution. No surprise when he was substituted.
AMAD – 8 (STAR MAN)
A standout performer, making the difference with his two goals and all-around contribution.
