Ronaldo has sent a message seemingly aimed at Lionel Messi, claiming he is the highest goalscorer in football history.
Ronaldo has just received the Platinum Quinas award for his great contributions to Portuguese football and representing the Portuguese team on the international stage.
After receiving the award, Ronaldo wrote on Instagram: “I am proud to receive this award. But there is still a lot to do! Thank you.”
Up to this point, Ronaldo has played a total of 1,036 matches for the club, scoring 775 goals. And for the Portuguese national team , Ronaldo has played 216 times and scored 133 goals.
Thus, Ronaldo has scored a total of 908 goals, only 92 goals short of the 1,000-goal milestone.
The number 92 goals does not seem too big. But in reality, Ronaldo is about to turn 40 and his time to play football is running out. However, whether he reaches the “century” goal or not, Ronaldo is currently 58 goals ahead of his rival Messi.
In his recent statement, Ronaldo sent a message aimed at Lionel Messi . Ronaldo said: “If I reach 1,000 goals, that would be great. But if not, I am still the player who has scored the most official goals in history. Now I can no longer think long-term. I just live in the present, enjoy the present.”
