Ronaldo receives prestigious award from Portuguese Football Federation

Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is proud to be the highest goalscorer in history, even if he does not reach the 1,000-goal milestone.

Cristiano Ronaldo has received the prestigious Quina de Platino award from the Portuguese Football Federation. The award recognizes his contributions to the Portuguese national team. In an emotional moment, the 39-year-old football superstar shared his journey with the national team, his future goals and his views on the milestone of 1,000 career goals. “Thank you to the Federation for this award and for recognising the long journey I have come with the national team,” he said. “I am very proud, very satisfied. I made my debut for the Portuguese national team at the age of 18. At that time, I only dreamed of playing. Then I reached 25 caps, then 50. At one point I thought, why not 100? It was like a milestone. And so I started aiming for 150, then 200. I cannot describe how great it feels.

I want to tell my teammates that there is nothing better than playing for your country. Representing your whole country, your culture, your family, your best friends. I am often disappointed by players who do not want to play for the national team.”

Before leaving the stage, Ronaldo shared his goal of scoring 1,000 goals in his career: “I’m living for the present, listening to what my feet will bring in the future. If I reach 1,000 goals, that’s great. If not, no one has scored more goals than me.”

Ronaldo still shows impressive scoring ability at the age of 39, age is just a number for him. Ronaldo is still an indispensable part of the Portuguese national team under coach Roberto Martinez. The Al-Nassr player has 216 appearances for the Portuguese national team and scored 133 goals.
