After Italy, France Italy 1-0 to win the Nations League group. Eduardo Camavinga was banned.
Camavinga and his team went to Milan
After Italy 3-1 in Milan, the French national team moved on to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Nations League. This was possible because the French team Italy 3-1 in Paris in September, too, so they Italy first.
In the end, Didier Deschamps’ team needed a third goal to tie the game with Italy. This would have given Les Bleus a better goal difference and an even record against Italy. Adrien Rabiot scored his second goal of the night, and Guglielmo Vicario scored an own goal to make it 2-0.
After getting his second yellow card of the Nations League season against Israel on Thursday, Eduardo Camavinga went to Milan with the rest of his team but stayed on the bench at the San Siro to watch Manu Kané replace Camavinga. France still won the tournament.
That came after getting a yellow card against Israel during the October international break. Because of that, he was not allowed to play in this match. He will be ready for Deschamps for the quarterfinal, though, when the international break comes around again in March 2025.
The draw for the play-off round will happen on November 22nd, and France will play one of the other A League teams that qualified. Spain, Germany, and Italy are the other three teams that have already earned their spot. Croatia, Poland, and Scotland could still make it out of Group 1. The Netherlands or Hungary could make it out of Group 3, and either Denmark or Serbia will make it out of Group 4.
Then, Deschamps will have to decide if to call on Ferland Mendy and Kylian Mbappé, since the coach didn’t want to use them during this international window. Aurélien Tchouameni, who missed these two games because of an illness, could also be called back into the team.
