Spain caps off the Nations League group stage with a stunning late display against Switzerland

Spain wins in the last minute, Portugal shares points

Bryan Zaragoza’s goal in the 90+3 minute from the penalty spot helped Spain win a 3-2 victory over Switzerland in the final match of Group 4 of Nations League A. Meanwhile, in Group 1, Portugal and Croatia shared points with a score of 1-1.

Entering the match, Spain pushed up their formation as soon as the whistle blew, with a squad quality superior to Switzerland, Spain easily pushed the visitors back into defense.

In the 23rd minute, Alejandro Grimaldo made a curling shot from outside the penalty area towards the far corner of the goal, luckily for Switzerland, goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo was able to fly to make an excellent save.

In the 31st minute, Ricardo Rodriguez fouled a Spanish player in the penalty area, the referee immediately pointed to the 11m mark, on the penalty spot, Pedri’s shot was too weak so it was blocked by goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo, Nico Williams rushed in to shoot but was blocked by a Swiss defender on the goal line, the ball continued to bounce and went right to Yeremy Pino’s position, this time the Swiss net had to shake after a decisive shot, 1-0 in favor of Spain.

After conceding the goal, Switzerland rose strongly, Switzerland’s delicious opportunity also came in the 44th minute, after a precise cross from right wing teammate Simon Sohm rushed in to head the ball, unfortunately the final shot went over the bar.

In the second half, the match was tense when both teams played high pressing. In the 54th minute, Nico Williams continued to leave an impression with a solo dribble in front of the Swiss penalty area, but unfortunately his final shot could not goalkeeper Yvon Mvogo.
