“Decoding” Real Madrid’s winning spirit
Real Madrid has been and is a great phenomenon of European football. This team is not necessarily the richest, not necessarily the most powerful, but it makes the opponent and always dominates the Champions League arena.
April and the of the king
April begins with April Fool’s Day (April 1 – April Fool’s Day), but for Europe’s top football leagues, this is the time to. The reason comes from the competition schedule. April is the time for the sprint in the national championships and also the time when the Champions League enters the decisive knockout rounds. Which team is strong, which team is weak, which team is capable of winning the national championship, which team is brave enough to win the Champions League, all are clearly shown in April.
In the Premier League, the three-horse race for the championship between Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool is still extremely fierce, but the unfortunate missteps of the two remaining opponents are helping Pep Guardiola and his team stand before the opportunity to win the championship for the fourth time in a row, an unprecedented feat in the history of this tournament.
Leading Man City from the 2015-2016 season until now, Guardiola has created the feeling of being able to conquer any challenge on the English pitch, to the point of having to create more challenges for himself to make it more interesting.
This Catalan strategist has won the Premier League without a real striker; created the position of a midfielder-center-back; conquered the 100-point milestone… And the highest peak Guardiola has achieved at Etihad so far is the “treble” of the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup in the 2022-2023 season.
Calling Man City the destructive machine of the foggy country is not wrong. Unfortunately, the “treble” dream of Guardiola and his team this season was shattered from the quarter-finals, because the opponent can be considered a nightmare for this team and the Catalan coach himself: the Royal Team Real Madrid.
As mentioned, if April is the of the king, then this season, no one is more truthful than Real Madrid. The Spanish Royal team turned Man City into the former Champions League champion in the quarterfinals.
Just a few days later, coach Carlo Ancelotti’s team continued to defeat arch-rivals Barcelona in the El Clasico match, thereby firmly consolidating the top spot and widening the gap with the Catalan giant – also the team ranked second on the rankings, up to 11 points while La Liga has only 6 rounds left to end.
If completing the double title in the 2023-2024 season, Real Madrid will be crowned La Liga for the 36th time and C1/Champions League for the 15th time, both records. Looking at that achievement, the greatness of the Spanish Royal team is indisputable.
Pride in wearing the Real Madrid shirt
Real Madrid was voted the greatest club of the 20th century and is clearly still the greatest of the 21st century to this day, with 8 La Liga titles and 6 Champions League titles, not to mention dozens of other trophies.
Real Madrid’s success of course comes from stable financial resources, the right strategy and excellent management ability of the board of directors, the talent and efforts of the coaching staff and players as well as many other factors. These factors, Man City also has, even somewhat superior in terms of finance and team personnel. But there is one thing that cannot be copied and has become the prerequisite for Real Madrid to become the greatest team. That is the winning spirit.
