Mbappe shines to help Real Madrid narrow the gap with Barcelona

Mbappe scores to help Real Madrid win

The match between Real Madrid and Leganes took place at 0:30 a.m. and ended with a score of 3-0 in favor of the home team.

In this match, coach Ancelotti placed Mbappe on the left wing, his preferred position. On the opposite side, Vinicius moved to the right wing but tended to play as a center forward for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid completely controlled the game in the first half, but had to wait until the 43rd minute to break the deadlock.

Vinicius Junior stole the ball from a mistake by Adri Altimara for Leganes, before passing to Kylian Mbappe to score. This was the first goal of the French striker after five matches without a goal.

In the second half, Real Madrid doubled the gap in the 63rd minute thanks to Federico Valverde. Wearing the captain’s armband for the match, the Uruguayan converted a precise to earn his fourth goal of the season.

Jude Bellingham headed home late on after the ball bounced off the crossbar after Brahim Diaz’s shot to seal a 3-0 win over Leganes.

Despite opening the scoring, Mbappe was still relatively lacklustre in the match, missing several chances. Despite not scoring, Vinicius was still rated 8.5 by Sofascore, while Mbappe was only rated 7.8. Valverde was the top scorer on the pitch with 8.7.

The result lifted Real Madrid back into second place in La Liga, ahead of Atletico Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are now just four points behind Barcelona and have played one game less than Barca.
